ACTIVITY

Now, is time to choose one of the last pictures and make your own image but before I recommend you to see the next video about mixing colours.

1.Color Harmony

Harmony can be defined as a pleasing arrangement of parts, whether it be music, poetry, color, or even an ice cream sunday.

In visual experiences, harmony is something that is pleasing to the eye. It engages the viewer and it creates an inner sense of order, a balance in the visual experience.

When something is not harmonious, it's either boring or chaotic. At one extreme is a visual experience that is so bland that the viewer is not engaged. The human brain will reject under-stimulating information. At the other extreme is a visual experience that is so overdone, so chaotic that the viewer can't stand to look at it. The human brain rejects what it can not organize, what it can not understand. The visual task requires that we present a logical structure.

Color harmony delivers visual interest and a sense of order.

There are many theories for harmony. We will work about simple harmonies ,the hue harmony color and the analogous harmony color.

Analogous Color Theme

Analogous colors are any three colors which are side by side on a 12 part color wheel, such as Red-Purple, Purple, Blue-Purple. Usually one of the three colors predominates.

The next image is harmonious in hue and analogy:

We can find artists who work in analogous colors. Do you know Picasso's blue period, for example? or Picassos's Rose Period? Look at the next presentation:

The photos below are from Chaouen (Marocco). As you can see, the real color in this streets is blue and its hues:

ACTIVITIES

The next task you must do is to choose one picture from Chaouen that you have seen and make two versions, one in cyan and its hues and another in magenta hues. You will do this task using two dinA4 sheets ( you have to cut one Din A3 sheet in half).
First of all you have to draw the basic lines of the image, with a sketch in your sheet (the street with the houses and the walls...).After that you can start painting one version in blue and then another version in magenta. Try to be polite with the colors.
